There’s something about the sizzle of summer that sends people flocking south. As anyone who’s ever shopped on Peddler’s Pavilion, made reservations at a seaside diner, or rented out their beach property knows, summer is high season in 30A. But for folks who get to enjoy the idyllic charm of a dream cottage all year, fall is the season to savor. Why do we love 30A in the fall?
The Weather
There’s nothing quite like a refreshing dip in the pool while the Florida sun blazes hot . . . except for reclining on the beach as an October breeze rolls in off the ocean. Fall marks the beginning of cooling days and balmy evenings. It’s still warm enough to enjoy a swim, but cool enough to go for a morning jog (without passing out from sun stroke). Grab your Kindle, your sunglasses, and your favorite beach companion (spouse or drink, we won’t tell!). It’s time to soak up those breathtaking sunsets on Seacrest Beach.
The Adventure
For folks up North, fall puts a serious damper on ecosploring, kayaking, and fishing. But for those of us blessed with a 30A beach property, adventure is always around the corner! Preserved land makes up over 40 percent of Walton County’s total acreage, providing endless bike trails, sprawling sand dunes, and miles of rich, green hiking trails to explore. And with Deer Lake State Park right in our backyard, you’ll never want for breathtaking views or fresh family adventures.
The Local Flavor
When Labor Day rolls around, local hotspots stop catering to the vacation crowd and get back to their roots. The arrival of autumn means better Happy Hour deals at our favorite restaurants, fresh fare for foodies, and plenty of festivals on 30A to spice up the weekends. Enjoy fun family activities at local beachside communities as Magnolia Cottages by the Sea plans how to make next year even better than this one. (We know – it’s hard to beat!)
